An automated market maker (AMM) is a type of algorithm that is used to create and maintain a market for a particular asset. It automatically sets the price of the asset based on supply and demand, and allows users to buy and sell the asset at any time. AMMs are commonly used in decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms to provide liquidity for various assets. In contrast to traditional market makers, AMMs do not require a human trader to set prices and manage the market, making them more efficient and less susceptible to manipulation.
